How does blue make you feel?
Close your eyes, imagine color. Can you see yourself immerged in that color, can you drown your sorrows in a blue shade of yourself? Can the golden light of sky turn you on? Subconsciously, colors have an effect on us; subconsciously colors make us empowered with our feelings and aware of our nature. Black and white (not creating any gray), while purple and blue, always blue, are colors intrinsic in our minds, we can see them with our souls and reflect them through our eyes.
Gabriel Wickbold’s new series, appropriately called “Sexual Colors” bring the to the viewers the chemistry between intuitive hue choices and the renewal of vibrant shades of orange dust, beads of visual orgasms dripping down unknown skins. Coming to Miami for the first time, we proudly introduce Gabriel’s edgy work, one that creates sexual attraction from the moment we lay eyes on, seeing and feeling each color as if they were touching our own shades of pink. In Brazil, where this energy was initially originated, his first solo exhibition was presented by acclaimed photo critic Rubens Fernandes Jr., in which he cited “elements of strangeness that were not always immediately identified”. And now, almost 5 years later the same elements create life again, emerging from greener shades of paint dripping on a sweaty skin, quietly shivering in the attempt of remaining still to be photographed by the young artist. Playing with light sets and the transparency of each layer of body mixed with paint, his work arouses curiosity of the erotically unknown.
When fingertips touch the slick layers of dye, uncovering parts of the real shapes behind the reds and the whites, sexual colors are created, and art is then revealed in an intense visual orgasm. It might be yellow too, but blue will somehow be there...
So how does blue make you feel now?
